National Carers Week - 15th October to 21st October 2023
National Carers Week, dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating carers in Australia, will be held from Sunday 15 to Saturday 21 October 2023.
National Carers Week is about recognising and celebrating the outstanding contribution unpaid carers make to our nation.
There are over 2.65 million unpaid carers in Australia providing care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, alcohol or drug dependency, long term health condition or who is frail due to age.
Anyone at any time can become a carer. National Carers Week is an opportunity to educate and raise awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles.

You may be wondering why am I sharing this?
Well Id say I am a carer who is keen to advocate and have been for the past 15 years.
I want to ensure mine and others stories are heard and recognized.
I have faced many personal and professional challenges over these years but I am heartened by my connection with Carers NSW the Peak organisation that has helped guide me through these.
I am a carer to 3 family members - hubby has a back injury, eldest son 19 yrs old Allergy, Anxiety, Autism and ADHD, and youngest son 15 years Allergy and Asthma.
I also have my own health conditions and know hubby would say he needs to care for me too.
So caring is not straight forward, you can't look at someone and know or assume that we all need the same support or experiences things in the same way.
We are all unique and individuals and I wish to support those carers who may want to buy products at Nana's for someone they carer for or like me uses some weighted products to help with insomnia, rest legs and fibromyalgia.
