Important Update: Wild Republic Toys No Longer Available
At Nana’s Weighted Blankets, our mission has always been to provide high-quality, hand-modified weighted toys and blankets that offer comfort, sensory support, and therapeutic benefits to individuals of all ages. For many years, one of the trusted soft toy brands we sourced from to create some of our most beloved weighted animal companions was Wild Republic.
However, we wish to inform our valued customers, therapists, educators, and supporters that Nana’s Weighted Blankets is no longer able to offer weighted versions of Wild Republic toys.
This change comes in response to a recent update in Wild Republic's international policy. The company has formally withdrawn support for the modification or repurposing of their plush toys into weighted therapeutic products, and this directive applies across all global markets. While we respect their decision to protect the integrity and branding of their products, we are naturally disappointed by the shift, as many of our most popular weighted animals—including some highly realistic species—originated from their collection.
For us, modifying high-quality plush toys into weighted sensory tools has always involved the utmost care and safety. Our process includes:
Sourcing brand-new toys from reputable suppliers.
Carefully opening the toy to inspect stitching, durability, and quality.
Removing a portion of the stuffing and replacing it with food-grade poly pellets, safely enclosed in a triple-stitched internal Lycra lining.
Resealing the toy with reinforced seams for longevity and continued machine or hand-wash safety (depending on the toy).
We’ve always maintained transparency with our suppliers and customers about this process and are proud of the exceptional standard and effectiveness of the final product. These modifications have made a real difference in homes, classrooms, clinics, and hospitals across Australia.
That said, we will no longer be producing new weighted toys using Wild Republic plushes. Limited remaining stock may still be available while supplies last, but we will not be able to restock or take custom requests using Wild Republic animals moving forward.
We are already actively working to expand our toy range through other reputable soft toy suppliers who share our values and are supportive of the repurposing of their products to meet sensory and therapeutic needs. As always, our focus remains on safety, comfort, and supporting the wellbeing of our customers through trusted, handmade Australian products.
